- Ergo significantly expands custom software design and build capabilities to help companies build secure, scalable, cloud-based solutions to meet their evolving needs
- This acquisition will significantly strengthen Ergo’s international growth strategy, which is on track to meet revenue target of €250 million in next 3 years
Ergo, an IT services company headquartered in Dublin, Ireland with a US-base in Minnesota, has announced the acquisition of BoatyardX, an Irish custom software development company. BoatyardX uses leading-edge cloud-native technology to design, build and launch secure and scalable software solutions for customers in North and South America, Europe, Northern Africa and South-East Asia. A sector agnostic provider, BoatyardX has developed significant expertise building cloud based custom software for clients in FinTech, Payments, e-Commerce and IoT sectors.
Headquartered in Dublin and with development teams in Romania and Colombia, the acquisition of BoatyardX will see Ergo’s global team of IT professionals grow to 700 through the addition of a 120-strong multidisciplinary team. This will provide a powerful injection of skills and scale to Ergo’s existing practice and broaden customer propositions around cloud journeys as well as custom software design and build capabilities.
This latest development aligns with Ergo’s plans to grow their international footprint, while also deepening the company’s software development competencies, enabling it to meet a growing demand for bespoke business critical applications and to build new products that address emerging global market opportunities. It also builds on the company’s acquisition of Asystec earlier this year, forming part of the company’s ambitious international growth strategy.
Paul McCann, CEO of Ergo said, “I am delighted to announce the acquisition of BoatyardX as we continue to grow our Irish and global footprint and deepen our expertise across the business. BoatyardX has a global reputation for leading-edge software development across all hyperscale environments which is the perfect alignment for our business.”
“This acquisition will give Ergo the critical mass we were looking for in our software practice and a brilliant offshore development team that will open many new doors for us. It will also further strengthen our ability to fully support CIOs in a tech advisory capacity and find new ways to make their applications fit for purpose in fast-changing business environments,” said McCann.
Brett Housker, President of Ergo US said, “We are pleased to see the Ergo team growing and expanding as we progress our international development strategy. BoatyardX has a strong foothold in the global landscape of IT services and solutions, and we’re excited to see how we can incorporate their capabilities into the services we already offer to our US customer base.”
Brian Barter, Managing Director of BoatyardX said, “The BoatyardX team are really excited to be joining Ergo, a company of similar values, focused on building great teams to deliver client’s objectives with the right technology. BoatyardX’s international experience and strength in custom cloud-based product development will build on, and enhance Ergo’s extensive digital, cloud and customer technology capabilities. In our first 3 years we have built real strength in the financial service, e-commerce and payments sectors and look forward to deepening these and continuing our growth into new areas.
“By joining forces with Ergo, we will accelerate our rapid growth and help organisations build or re-build products that are at the core of their businesses, delivering great experiences for their end customers. Our teams in Romania, Colombia and Ireland are the foundation, providing access to great talent and delivering real value to clients,” concluded Barter.
Originally developed as part of Shipyard Technology Ventures, BoatyardX was founded in 2019 and has quickly established a reputation for future-proofing businesses at speed with robust open-source software and world-class UI/UX design. It was recently nominated for Technology Ireland’s Outstanding Achievement in International Growth Award achieving more than €10m in international sales in its first 3 years.
